U.S. SUPPORTS EBOLA RESPONSE WITH FUNDING FOR 50 CLINICS IN DRC AND UGANDA

Listen

The United States says it is supporting efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda by funding up to 50 treatment clinics.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the clinics are being rapidly deployed to strengthen emergency response in affected areas. They will provide Ebola screening, triage, isolation services, and help establish containment zones around outbreak locations.

The funding is also aimed at boosting frontline medical response, providing protective equipment, diagnostics, and other life-saving humanitarian support. The U.S. said the goal is to ensure quick containment and prevent further spread of the disease, while working with international partners through UN humanitarian systems.

It added that the support reflects ongoing cooperation with global health and humanitarian agencies to strengthen outbreak response capacity.
