The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced online accreditation for journalists and media organisations seeking to cover Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
In a notice issued on Friday, October 30, 2026, the commission directed interested media organisations to register through its dedicated accreditation portal, which opened on October 30 and will close at midnight on December 1, 2026. INEC warned that late applications would not be entertained, as the portal would automatically shut down at the deadline.
The commission advised media organisations seeking further information to contact 08063041332 or 08032861058, or send enquiries to enquiries@gmail.com. It urged all interested organisations to complete their registration within the stipulated period to avoid missing the accreditation window.
