Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for Abuja after participating in the Nigeria–Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Forum, aimed at strengthening cooperation and improving nutrition outcomes in both countries.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forum, held from October 7 to 9 under the theme “Moving the Needle on Nutrition,” brought together Nigerian governors, ministers and other stakeholders for discussions and field visits. Shettima led the Nigerian delegation, which explored practical approaches to tackling nutrition challenges.
According to a statement issued on Friday, October 9, by the Vice President’s Media Aide, Stanley Nkwocha, discussions focused on nutrition, agriculture, early childhood development, technology, financing and service delivery at the subnational level. The visit also provided an opportunity for both countries to share experiences and strengthen agricultural value chains, with a focus on accelerating implementation at state, local government and community levels.
During the visit, Shettima held a bilateral meeting with Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, to review relations between the two countries and explore opportunities for greater cooperation in agriculture, trade, investment, food security and aviation. The Vice President emphasised the importance of African countries learning from one another to address shared development challenges.
