The 8th edition of the African Traditional Food Fair will showcase Nigeria’s rich culinary heritage and promote sustainable food systems when it holds from October 16 to 17 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion in Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, by the fair’s Media Coordinator, Daughter Jack, the 2026 edition, also known as the Mba’Apostoli Food Festival, is themed “Food for Tomorrow: Reviving Indigenous Foods for Healthy Living, Climate-Resilient and Food-Secure Nigeria.” The event aims to promote Nigerian cuisine while highlighting the role of indigenous foods in nutrition, food security and environmental sustainability.
The two-day event will bring together farmers, food entrepreneurs, processors, chefs, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders to discuss nutrition, climate resilience, livelihoods and the preservation of Africa’s food heritage. It is being organised by the Mba’Apostoli Multipurpose Cooperative in partnership with the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation (GIFSEP), Sustainability Eternal and Kasejene.
The fair, organised as part of activities commemorating World Food Day 2026, will begin on October 16 with a news conference at 9 a.m., followed by a policy dialogue on indigenous and sustainable food systems, exhibitions and stakeholder engagements. The second day will feature an African food and cultural fiesta celebrating traditional cuisine and cultural heritage.
