The 14th edition of the Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival (NCHF) will celebrate cultural enthusiasts and stakeholders promoting Nigeria’s rich heritage through film, fashion, art, tourism and other creative fields.

The festival’s President and Founder, Agility Onwurah, said the event would hold from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion, Abuja, under the theme, “Preserving African Heritage Through Film, Culture, Tourism and Creative Enterprise.” He said the festival was being organised in collaboration with the House Committee on Commerce.

Onwurah said the three-day event would feature an African Fashion Runway showcasing traditional Nigerian attire, an African Food Fest highlighting indigenous meals and their nutritional value, cultural dances, comedy, film screenings and other activities. The opening day will feature “Egwu Onwa” (Moonlight Night), with live music and traditional activities designed to recreate the communal atmosphere of traditional African storytelling.

He said the festival would also screen African-themed films and present awards for outstanding films, directors and individuals who have contributed to preserving African heritage. The Oct. 24 programme will focus mainly on the awards, while panel discussions and keynote presentations will explore ways to monetise Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

Onwurah said participation in the festival would remain free, stressing that the organisers wanted everyone to contribute to preserving Nigerian culture. He appealed for greater support from public and private organisations, saying funding remained the major challenge after 14 years of organising the festival.
