Aviation expert Dr Christopher Edeh has identified poor management, unpaid salaries, inadequate planning and rising operational costs among the challenges affecting airline operations in Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2026 South-East Aviation Summit/Eastwing Youth Aviation Competition in Enugu, Edeh also highlighted the high cost of aircraft spare parts, maintenance requirements and recurrent training for aviation professionals.
He urged prospective airline investors to understand the technical, regulatory and financial demands of the industry before committing resources.
Edeh also encouraged young Nigerians interested in aviation to explore careers such as piloting and aircraft engineering, stressing that proper training and commitment are essential.
