American rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Roberts, has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over allegations of domestic violence involving his former girlfriend, model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick.
Court records cited by NBC News show that Ross faces a felony charge of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanour battery charge. Kendrick had alleged that the rapper assaulted her during their relationship and shared photographs on Instagram that she said showed injuries sustained during an incident.
According to the court documents, the alleged incident occurred on August 28, while Kendrick reported it to police on September 29. Ross was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre and was later released on a $6,000 bond, with arraignment scheduled for October 22.
Ross’s lawyer, Steve Sadow, denied the allegations, describing them as false and urging the public not to prejudge the case. Ross has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations remain subject to judicial proceedings.
