Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, and skit maker Carter Efe have emerged victorious in their respective celebrity boxing bouts at the “Chaos in the Ring” event held in Lagos.
Phyna defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout in the fourth round of their scheduled bout at the Federal Palace Hotel on Oct. 1, becoming the first winner of a female celebrity boxing contest in Nigeria. She celebrated the victory on X, describing Oct. 2 as a special date that also marks the anniversary of her Big Brother Naija victory.
The reality TV star, who received a brand-new electric vehicle and 50 million naira as the grand prize, said the victory had strengthened her desire to pursue professional boxing. She also challenged actress Etinosa Idemudia to a future bout while thanking Balmoral Promotions and Bet9ja for the opportunity.
Carter Efe, meanwhile, defeated rapper Speed Darlington in a four-round contest at Balmoral Hall, Victoria Island, retaining his unbeaten record in the “Chaos in the Ring” series. The event also featured professional bouts, including a contest between Nigerian boxer Godday Appah and Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah, as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
