The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has begun distributing preloaded ATM cards to 12,112 adolescent girls under the second phase of its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme.
Each beneficiary will receive 40,000 naira through an account opened for the student, with distribution taking place across the state’s three senatorial districts to improve access and ensure eligible girls are reached.
Kogi AGILE State Project Coordinator, Ahmed Oricha, on Thursday October 1st, in Anyigba, said the intervention was designed to help girls remain in school, navigate key educational transition points and overcome financial barriers. He urged parents, school authorities and community stakeholders to guide beneficiaries and ensure the funds support their education.
The CCT Lead, Kunle Mumini, said the second cohort builds on the first phase, which supported 13,359 adolescent girls in transitioning classes across the state. Beneficiaries and parents welcomed the intervention, saying it would ease some financial pressures and encourage girls to remain focused on their education as the distribution continues statewide.
