Google has unveiled new artificial intelligence-powered advertising features designed to help Nigerian businesses track online ad performance and manage campaigns more effectively.
Olumide Balogun, Google’s Director for East and West Africa, on Friday September 25, said the tools, introduced under the company’s AI Max for Search platform, include a new Google Ads reporting feature that brings customer searches, the adverts they see and the webpages they visit into a single view. The feature, unveiled at DMEXCO 2026 in Germany, is expected to roll out globally, including Nigeria, later this year.
Google is also expanding AI Brief, a Gemini-powered tool that allows advertisers to guide campaigns using everyday language, including specifying searches to prioritise, offers to highlight and information to exclude. Advertisers can preview sample adverts and searches before campaigns go live. Google said ads can now also appear above and below AI Overviews in more than 200 countries, including Nigeria.
Balogun urged Nigerian businesses preparing for Black Friday and the festive shopping season to plan their campaigns early. Google said its AI Max platform has been adopted by about 500,000 advertisers globally, while advertisers using it recorded 27 per cent more conversions at a similar cost. The company, however, noted that the performance figures are global data and not specific to Nigeria.
