More than 500 residents of Erin-Ile and neighbouring communities in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Nigerian Army.
The exercise provided general medical consultations, dental and eye care, laboratory tests, counselling, medication and health education. Children also received deworming services, while selected women were given mosquito nets as part of the preventive healthcare programme.
Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Maj.-Gen. Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, said the outreach was part of the Army’s civil-military cooperation efforts to support host communities and strengthen relations between military personnel and civilians.
The Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye, commended the Army for bringing free healthcare closer to residents, saying the initiative had enabled people to access medical attention without travelling far or worrying about treatment costs.
Beneficiaries, including Abass Akegbeyala, Oladejo Omolayo and Ademola Omo-Aweda, expressed satisfaction with the services and medication provided. They commended the medical team and called for similar interventions in other rural communities.
