The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has suspended its strike across Federal Unity Colleges nationwide and directed its members to resume duty immediately.
The decision was reached on Wednesday, September 23, in Abuja at a meeting involving the leadership of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), ASCSN and zonal coordinators of the Federal Unity Schools. The meeting reviewed the industrial action and the proposed concession arrangement involving the Federal Ministry of Education and Kings College Old Boys Association (KCOBA).
ASCSN Secretary-General, Mr Joshua Apebo, said the concession of Kings College, Lagos, had been suspended pending a review of the concession document by a seven-member high-level committee. He added that ASCSN had two representatives on the committee.
Following the development, the union directed members in all Federal Unity Schools to return to work while awaiting the committee’s report and further directives from the national leadership.
Apebo, however, said the suspension was not a permanent end to the industrial action, warning that the strike could be resumed at any time without further notice.
