Petrol prices have continued to rise across the Federal Capital Territory, with some filling stations now selling the product above N1,400 per litre.
NAN checks in Abuja showed petrol selling at N1,395 per litre at MRS, N1,430 at Salbas and AY Shafa, N1,445 at Energy Empire, and N1,450 at Afdin. The latest adjustment followed an N85 increase in Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s gantry price, from N1,265 to N1,350 per litre.
Motorists and commuters said the rising fuel cost was affecting transportation and adding pressure to the cost of daily living. One commuter reported paying N1,300 for transportation from Kubwa to Wuse.
Public affairs analyst Jide Ojo called for measures to cushion the impact of fuel price volatility, while Dangote Industries President Aliko Dangote linked part of the price pressure to the movement of petrol to neighbouring countries where prices are higher.
