Egypt’s trade with BRICS countries reached $36.7 billion in the first half of 2026, rising by 25.5 per cent from $29.3 billion recorded during the same period in 2025.
Data from Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics showed that Egyptian exports to BRICS countries stood at $6.6 billion, while imports increased to $30.2 billion. China was the largest source of imports at $10.4 billion, followed by the UAE at $5.3 billion and Russia at $3.8 billion.
Economic ties also extended to investment and remittances. BRICS countries invested $6.2 billion in Egypt during the 2024/2025 financial year, while Egyptian investments across BRICS countries reached $2.2 billion. Remittances from Egyptians working in BRICS countries rose to $15.7 billion, compared with $9.8 billion previously.
The figures highlight the growing scale of Egypt’s economic and financial links with BRICS countries following its accession to the group.
