Save the Children International (SCI) has taken its “Back-to-School” advocacy campaign to Yola, Adamawa State, to encourage increased pupil enrolment as schools resume academic activities.
The campaign was carried out in collaboration with officials of the Adamawa State Ministry of Education and the Local Education Authority. SCI Education Officer, Maryam Neol, said the initiative is part of the organisation’s efforts to improve school enrolment and retention, particularly among vulnerable children.
Education officials and other stakeholders urged parents and guardians to enrol their children on time and support their education. Stakeholders also called for greater efforts to ensure children are not left on the streets during school hours, while representatives of persons with special needs welcomed the campaign’s inclusion efforts.
The campaign began at the Welcome to Yola, popularly known as Juppo Jam roundabout, and ended at Damare Primary School. The message was clear: ensuring children have access to quality education requires the support of families, communities and relevant stakeholders.
