Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, has died at the age of 90.
Tukur’s family announced his death on Saturday, saying he passed away on September 12, 2026, in Abuja, three days before his 91st birthday. The family described him as a distinguished statesman whose service to his family, Adamawa State and Nigeria touched many lives.
According to a statement by his son, Auwal Tukur, the corpse is expected to arrive in Yola on Saturday, while the funeral prayer will take place at the Lamido’s Palace at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, before his burial.
Tukur, a former Governor of the old Gongola State, served as PDP National Chairman and held several other public responsibilities during his career. He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Auwal Tukur, Secretary to the Adamawa State Government.
The family expressed appreciation for the prayers and condolences received, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus.
