The Cross River Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected homicide of an unidentified female guest at a hotel along Clifford Street in Calabar.
Police spokesperson ASP Sunday Eitokpah said the woman was found unresponsive in a hotel room after an unidentified male guest reportedly checked into the hotel with her. He said the male guest was not properly documented when admitted.
According to the police, investigators observed apparent marks of violence on the woman’s face and neck. She was taken to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead, and her remains were deposited at a morgue.
Police said a receptionist is being questioned as part of the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to locate the male guest. The command urged the public to avoid speculation and share only credible information that could help identify the deceased or assist the investigation.
