ORANGE ECONOMY SUMMIT: INFORMATION MINISTER PLEDGES MEDIA SUPPORT

Listen

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has pledged the ministry’s support for the forthcoming National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) summit on Nigeria’s orange economy, also known as the creative economy.

Idris made the commitment on Tuesday, September 8, in Abuja when members of NIPSS National Executive Course 48, led by Director-General Prof. Ayo Omotayo, paid him a courtesy visit. He described the summit as timely, noting that the creative economy could contribute significantly to entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable economic growth.

The minister assured the delegation that relevant government media agencies would support the programme with publicity and national visibility. He said the estimated 250 million naira media cost presented by organisers should not discourage the initiative, adding that the ministry would explore broader government support while ensuring that citizens’ views and concerns are also communicated to government.

Earlier, Omotayo said Course 48 was examining the entrepreneurial dimensions, challenges and prospects of Nigeria’s orange economy and how the sector could contribute to the country’s ambition of achieving a trillion-dollar economy by 2027. He said the summit and exhibition would provide an opportunity to present the course’s findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
