Nigerian Christian filmmaker and cleric, Mike Bamiloye, has announced Oct. 1 as the cinema release date for Agbara Nla: The Return, a remake of his 1993 faith-based classic, Agbara Nla.
Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, made the announcement on Instagram alongside the film’s trailer. He described the new production as a modern remake of the movie, which became a major influence in Nigeria’s Christian film industry more than three decades ago.
Originally released in 1993 and also known as The Ultimate Power, Agbara Nla explored themes of faith, spiritual warfare, prayer, evangelism and the triumph of good over evil. The remake is expected to retain the central message of the original while presenting the story to a new generation.
Directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye, the film features Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Bamiloye as Kola and Aanu Kolade-Abiodun as Bose. Mike Bamiloye also returns as Isawuru, the character he played in the original production. The movie is a collaboration between Mount Zion Film Productions, Sozo Films and Circuits.
