Students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, have on Thursday September 3, protested the prolonged strike by university unions, barricading the institution’s main gate and major roads leading to the campus.
The protest followed separate industrial actions by SSANU, NASU and NAAT over unresolved demands with the university management, while ASUU had earlier declared an indefinite strike over the alleged failure of the state government to implement the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.
Led by Students’ Union Government President, Folagbade Ayoola, the protesters called for an urgent resolution of the disputes and the reopening of the university. Ayoola said students were struggling with prolonged academic disruption, while SUG General Secretary, Oluwatimileyin Amos, said students had been out of classrooms for 68 days.
The students carried placards with messages including “Enough is Enough” and appealed to the state government and university unions to reach an agreement. The university’s Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Sola Imoru, declined to comment and referred inquiries to the striking unions.
