The Ogun State Police Command says its Anti-Kidnapping Unit has killed two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle at a hideout along the Papalanto–Ilaro Road and rescued an abducted victim.
According to the Command, the operation followed actionable intelligence on the activities of a kidnapping gang. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones and 2 million naira suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities.
The police said other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries and efforts were ongoing to track and arrest them. The bodies of the two suspects were deposited at a morgue for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could help security agencies apprehend fleeing suspects and disrupt kidnapping networks.
