The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Niger State has urged corps members to embrace Nigeria’s cultural diversity and promote national unity throughout their service year and beyond.
The NYSC Coordinator in Niger, Mrs Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, made the call at the 2026 Batch B Stream II Cultural Carnival at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko. She said the event provided an opportunity for cultural exchange, integration and peaceful coexistence among corps members from different parts of the country.
Shuaibu-Ibrahim encouraged the corps members to build bridges in their host communities, learn from different cultures and acquire practical skills that would promote self-reliance after their service. She also commended the Niger Government for renovating key camp facilities and strengthening its support for the centre.
The Emir of Minna, Dr Umar Farouk, represented by Dantala Maka, urged the corps members to see themselves as one people and work together for a better Nigeria regardless of ethnic or cultural differences. Platoon Seven won the carnival’s cultural display with a Hausa/Fulani presentation, followed by Platoon Nine with a Nupe display and Platoon Five with an Edo presentation.
