Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens opened their ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 1 campaign in Tanzania with a four-wicket victory over Uganda.
Uganda, after winning the toss and electing to bat, managed 59 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs. Nigeria’s bowlers produced a disciplined performance, with Chisom Okpe taking two wickets for four runs and Peace Usen also claiming two wickets.
Nigeria’s chase came under pressure as Uganda’s Tino Sarah took five wickets for 13 runs in four overs. However, Omosigho Eguakun’s patient 24 off 29 balls and Christabel Chukwuonye’s attacking 13 off 10 deliveries helped the YellowGreens reach the target and secure victory.
The result gives Nigeria a strong start to the qualifying campaign as the Junior Female YellowGreens target progression to the next stage of the global qualification pathway.
