The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has inaugurated a remodeled critical care centre and a newly constructed helipad at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.
The critical care centre, named after Shaibu in recognition of his contributions to military healthcare and personnel welfare, is equipped with modern medical equipment for treating critically ill and injured soldiers. A 30-patient transit accommodation facility was also commissioned at the hospital.
Shaibu said the new helipad would significantly reduce the time required to evacuate wounded soldiers from operational areas to the hospital, improving their chances of survival and receiving timely critical care.
The COAS also inaugurated 12 two-bedroom and six three-bedroom flats for married officers at Ribadu Cantonment. He said improved accommodation and other welfare facilities were essential to boosting the morale and operational effectiveness of personnel.
Shaibu further inspected ongoing projects within the 1 Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility and commended troops for their sacrifices. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to providing infrastructure, healthcare and welfare support to personnel serving the country.
