The Nigerian Navy has intercepted 500 litres of products suspected to be illegally sourced Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and substances suspected to be cannabis during an operation in Folu Community, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
The operation was conducted on Monday by personnel of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Lekki as part of efforts to curb the illegal storage and trade of petroleum products and the circulation of illicit drugs in the area.
According to the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, the suspects fled the location before they could be apprehended. The recovered items were subsequently secured and taken to the base for further investigation.
The Navy said the operation demonstrated its commitment to disrupting activities capable of threatening national economic interests, public safety and security within its area of operations.
