Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting farmers and private investors through infrastructure and other incentives to promote economic growth.
Oborevwori gave the assurance during visits to Tatcha Farms in Okuloho, Amity Global Farms and Manroy Livestock Farms in Okpe and Uvwie Local Government Areas. He said government support would not always come through direct funding but through infrastructure and an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
The governor said the state’s recent Economic and Investment Summit was aimed at showcasing investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, while attracting local and international investors. He added that the government’s economic team had been directed to inspect farms and businesses across the state to identify challenges and opportunities for expansion.
Oborevwori said a 33KV electricity project had been awarded to improve power supply, while ongoing road projects would enhance access to farms and markets. He also promised an access road linking the Warri-Sapele Expressway to Amity Global Farms.
He said government would provide fertiliser and other agricultural inputs to genuine farmers, while warning against diversion and resale. Oborevwori also encouraged civil servants and residents to embrace farming, saying agriculture could create jobs, strengthen food security and help reduce crime.
