Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66.
His family announced his death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in a statement shared on social media, saying the actor passed away while submitting to the will of Almighty Allah.
The family disclosed that Hassan had been battling stage-four cancer in recent days and had earlier appealed for medical assistance. He was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, filmmaker and director.
The family said he would be buried according to Islamic rites on Monday at the Pavilion in Ilaro, Ogun State.
Hassan’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, who have mourned the loss of one of the veteran figures of Yoruba cinema.
