WOMEN AFFAIRS MINISTER, NCAA DG, OTHERS HONOURED AT NIGERIA MOST INFLUENTIAL AWARDS

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, have been honoured at the 2026 Nigeria Most Influential Awards (NMIA) for their contributions to national development.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim received the Minister of the Year Distinguished Service Icon Award, while Najomo was recognised with the Lifetime Achievement in Aviation Award at the 10th anniversary of the NMIA and VGlamour Magazine in Abuja.

Other award recipients included Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adeniyi, Sen. Neda Imaseun, Dr Erasmus Ekpang, Dr Daniel Newman, Alhaji Sadiq Kashim and Adaora Sidney-Jack. Assistant Inspector-General of Police Aishatu Baju was also honoured, while the late media mogul Raymond Dokpesi received a posthumous award.

The Women Affairs Minister attributed her achievements to President Bola Tinubu’s focus on people-centred governance, particularly initiatives supporting women, children and vulnerable families. She said government was committed to strengthening women’s economic, social and political empowerment.

NMIA Convener and VGlamour Magazine CEO, Vivian Lam, said the awards were established to recognise Nigerians whose work had created positive impact. She described the 10th anniversary as a celebration of purpose, resilience, excellence and lasting impact.

The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the 10th edition of VGlamour Magazine, alongside drama, comedy and musical performances.
