Five adult males have died in a road traffic accident involving a Toyota Camry and an Iveco truck on the Badagry Expressway in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the crash occurred around 5:16 a.m. at Sawmill on Saturday, near Mowo Bus Stop. Preliminary findings indicated that the Camry allegedly lost control after speeding and veered into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the oncoming truck.
LASEMA said its Dolphin Team responded to the scene, where the victims were recovered and handed over to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Two tow trucks were also deployed to remove the damaged vehicles and clear the road.
The agency said the vehicles were subsequently taken to Morogbo Police Division, while normal traffic flow was restored. LASEMA commiserated with the victims’ families and urged motorists to avoid speeding, dangerous overtaking and other risky driving practices.
