DAVIDO FREE TO VISIT EDO, SAYS STATE GOVERNMENT

Listen

The Edo State Government has dismissed reports that Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been banned from entering the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, described the report as false and said the government had no intention of restricting Davido’s movement in Edo.

Afegbua said Edo remained home to everyone, regardless of their political affiliation or beliefs. He explained that whatever differences arose during the recent Osun governorship election were political and should not be interpreted as a personal dispute.

The commissioner described Davido as one of Edo’s illustrious sons because of his maternal roots in the state. He added that the government would gladly welcome the singer and collaborate with him if he chose to visit or perform in Edo.

Afegbua also praised Davido’s achievements in the music industry, describing him as a global ambassador for Nigeria and expressing hope that the singer would eventually win a Grammy Award.
