Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, says she believes her ability to portray witches, wicked mothers-in-law and other villainous characters is a God-given talent.
Ozokwor made the disclosure during a livestreamed interview with content creator Carter Efe, where she reflected on her long career and the negative roles that have become a defining part of her acting.
The actress said she does not support evil or injustice in real life but deliberately gives villainous characters her best performance to make them convincing and help audiences understand the consequences of wrongdoing.
She said her portrayals are intended to encourage viewers to reflect on their actions and understand the importance of living responsibly. “Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she said.
Ozokwor, who hails from Enugu State, has enjoyed a decades-long career in Nollywood and has featured in numerous major productions. She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2012 and 2013, and received a Merit Award at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
