The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed several shops and business premises along the Tejuosho–Ojuelegba corridor for allegedly dumping refuse illegally on road medians.
The enforcement was carried out by LAWMA’s Waste Investigation Surveillance and Enforcement team after repeated warnings and sensitisation campaigns failed to stop traders from violating environmental sanitation regulations.
LAWMA Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said the action was necessary to restore environmental order and protect public health. He warned that road medians, drainage channels and other public spaces were not designated for waste disposal.
Gbadegesin said the affected premises would remain sealed until the owners comply with sanitation requirements and put measures in place to prevent further violations. He urged traders and residents to use designated waste operators, warning that enforcement against illegal dumping would continue across Lagos.
