Listen

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU-U20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire after defeating Togo’s Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in their second Group B match on Thursday.

The two-time defending champions were held to a goalless draw in the first half before Muiz Adeleke broke the deadlock shortly after the restart. The forward, who also scored twice against Ghana in Nigeria’s opening match, completed his brace in the 59th minute to put the Flying Eagles firmly in control.

Substitute Abdoulaye Agbeloye added Nigeria’s third goal late in the match to seal another convincing victory and confirm the team’s qualification for the semi-finals with one group game still to play.

Nigeria will face Burkina Faso in their final Group B match on Sunday, with the Flying Eagles looking to maintain their impressive start to the tournament and strengthen their bid to retain the regional title.
