The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, for allegedly severing her husband’s genital after reportedly discovering that he planned to marry another woman. The incident occurred at Durbar Hotel in the Badawa area of Kano.
Police said the incident was reported by the management of the hotel on July 27, prompting officers from the Badawa Division to respond and launch an investigation.
According to the command, the suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while a knife believed to be connected to the incident was recovered. The victim was immediately taken to a specialist hospital in Kano, where he is receiving medical treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case. Authorities have assured the public that the matter will be handled in accordance with the law.
