Nigerian-British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua dedicated his comeback victory to his late coaches, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, after recovering from two early knockdowns to defeat Kristian Prenga by second-round knockout.
Fighting for the first time since the tragic road accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close friends and trainers, Joshua entered the ring wearing camouflage gear bearing their names. After the bout, the former world champion described the victory as a tribute to their memory, saying their spirit inspired him to fight through adversity.
Despite a difficult opening round, Joshua bounced back with a dominant display to stop Prenga in the second round. Promoter Eddie Hearn praised the boxer’s resilience, saying Joshua had shown remarkable courage by returning to the ring after months of personal grief.
Hearn also revealed that contracts have been signed for the long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Joshua and fellow Briton Tyson Fury, with the date and venue yet to be confirmed. Joshua welcomed the challenge, saying he respects Fury’s achievements but is ready for the fight fans have been waiting to see.
