3 KILLED, ONE INJURED IN FATAL ABUJA ROAD CRASH

Listen

Three young men lost their lives while another sustained injuries after a Toyota Camry crashed into the culvert of a bridge along the Dei-Dei–Idu–Karmo Road in Abuja on Sunday July 19.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash occurred at about 3:45 p.m. and involved four male occupants. Rescue officials recovered one body immediately, while two others were trapped in the wreckage before being evacuated. The lone survivor was rescued and taken to hospital for treatment.

According to the FRSC, preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed caused the driver to lose control before the vehicle slammed into the bridge culvert with significant impact. The force of the collision reportedly threw the car’s engine into a nearby river and damaged the vehicle extensively.

The corps urged motorists to avoid speeding and always adhere to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable tragedies. FRSC officials also commended emergency responders for their swift rescue efforts, which helped save the surviving occupant and restore traffic along the affected route.
