Nigerian troops have recorded fresh gains in the fight against insurgency with the arrest of suspected terrorist informants and logistics suppliers in Borno State.
Operation HADIN KAI said troops, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended suspects in Mafa and Gubio Local Government Areas over alleged links to terrorist activities. A suspected ISWAP member also reportedly surrendered in Konduga and is assisting ongoing investigations.
In a separate operation, security forces intercepted supplies believed to be destined for insurgents in Damboa after suspects abandoned the items and fled. Troops also discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a farming area near Sambisa Forest.
The military says the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks, restrict insurgent movement and improve security for communities across the North-East.
