Listen

The Ebonyi State Police Command has announced plans to conduct an autopsy on Miss Mary Habila, a nurse who reportedly died at the Uburu residence of the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi.

According to the police, the post-mortem examination is a key part of efforts to establish the exact cause of death. Authorities said the deceased was attached to the minister’s medical team and was later confirmed dead after being taken to a hospital in Uburu.

The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), with investigators already visiting the scene and obtaining statements from relevant individuals. Police also disclosed that the family of the deceased has opposed the autopsy, although investigators insist it is necessary to support the ongoing inquiry.

The command says it remains committed to a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation and has assured the public that further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
