A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced a 27-year-old trader, Aminu Mohammed to one year in prison for stealing a sheep.
While reviewing the facts, the Prosecutor, Inspector Ijuptil Thaiwur told the court that the case was reported on June 11, at the “C” Division Police Station by one Halima Usman, the complainant. He said the convict stole the sheep and was found in possession of it during police investigation. He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of theft brought against him by the Police.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati sentenced the convict to one year in prison with an option of fine of 80,000 naira. She also ordered him to pay a compensation of N10,000 naira to the complainant.
