MAN IN COURT OVER ALLEGED POSSESSION OF HUMAN SKULL

The Police on Tuesday July 14 arraigned a 35-year-old man, Olarewaju Abiodun before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, over an alleged unlawful possession of a human skull. The defendant is facing trial on a one-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony.

The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large, allegedly committed the offence on June 29 at Aisegba-Ekiti, within the Ode-Ekiti Magisterial District. Oriyomi alleged that the defendant conspired with others to unlawfully possess a dry human skull. He said the offence contravened Section 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. Abiodun however pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Ayorinde Busuyi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate Mr Abayomi Adosun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of 200,000 naira with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case until August 17 for hearing.
