Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has assured the international community that Nigeria remains safe for investment, tourism and business activities, despite ongoing security challenges in some parts of the country.
Speaking in New York, Disu said security agencies are working around the clock to protect lives and property, while adopting modern technologies to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other crimes. He noted that international perceptions of Nigeria often differ from the experiences of visitors who come to the country.
The IGP highlighted the growing use of intelligence-led policing, artificial intelligence, surveillance systems, drones and data analytics to predict and prevent crime. He also disclosed that security agencies are increasingly tracking criminal activities online and using digital intelligence to identify and apprehend suspects.
Disu acknowledged the security challenges facing parts of Nigeria but maintained that the government’s commitment to restoring peace remains strong. He expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration among security agencies and the deployment of advanced technology will continue to improve safety and strengthen investor confidence in the country.
