Cross River State has sealed three private health facilities over alleged quackery and failure to meet required healthcare standards.
The state Ministry of Health said the action followed inspections by its Health Quality and Anti-Quackery Taskforce after receiving intelligence reports on the facilities. The affected centres are Gifted Hands Empowerment Foundation in Ikom and Ekori, Rockalive Medical Centre in Nko, and Benson Clinic in Ikom.
According to the ministry, the facilities were allegedly operating without proper registration, qualified medical personnel, adequate equipment and safe clinical conditions. Officials also raised concerns about unethical medical practices and poor infrastructure in some of the centres.
The government says the enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts to protect patients, eliminate quackery and ensure that healthcare providers meet approved standards. Investigations and regulatory actions are expected to continue.
