BPP TO LAUNCH NEW NATIONAL FOOD PROCUREMENT GUIDELINES ON JULY 13

Listen

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has announced plans to unveil the National Guidelines for Public Procurement of Food and Related Services on July 13 in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen transparency and efficiency in public procurement.

According to the Director-General of BPP, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, the new framework was developed in collaboration with key government ministries and stakeholders. The guidelines are expected to establish uniform standards for food procurement across public institutions, including schools, hospitals, government agencies and correctional facilities.

The initiative is also aimed at promoting healthier food systems, supporting local farmers and boosting Nigeria’s agricultural value chain through increased patronage of locally produced food. Officials say the framework will encourage sustainable procurement practices while contributing to economic growth and national wellness.

The official launch will take place at the NAF Conference Centre in Abuja on July 13. Stakeholders say the guidelines represent a significant step toward improving accountability, food quality and service delivery across public institutions nationwide.
