Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Ferdinand Ohanekwu, has expressed concern over what he describes as declining professional standards among some emerging actors in Nigeria’s film industry.
Speaking in Enugu, Ohanekwu said some upcoming actors are failing to learn from the experiences and values that helped build Nollywood into one of Africa’s leading entertainment industries. He urged aspiring talents to remain patient, study the work of industry pioneers and focus on professionalism rather than chasing quick success.
Offering a different perspective, actress Nkiru Sylvanus said Nollywood has continued to grow and adapt to technological changes and global opportunities. According to her, the industry is now more accessible, creating space for new producers, actors and creative voices to contribute to its development.
Sylvanus, however, stressed the need for quality storytelling and stronger distribution networks to unlock Nollywood’s full potential. As conversations continue about the future of Nigeria’s film industry, stakeholders agree that preserving standards while embracing innovation will be key to sustaining Nollywood’s global success.
