Traders in Mararaba and Aso markets have appealed to authorities and contractors to provide temporary access roads and improve drainage systems as ongoing road construction continues to affect business activities.
According to several traders, flooding, traffic congestion and poor road access have reduced customer visits and sales, especially during rainfall. Some business owners said customers now find it difficult to reach the markets, leading to significant losses in daily revenue.
The traders noted that while they support the road project and appreciate the pace of work, temporary measures such as gravel-filled access routes and better drainage would help ease movement for both customers and traders until construction is completed. They also expressed concern that prolonged disruptions could affect business during the crucial end-of-year trading season.
Despite the challenges, traders remain hopeful that the completed road project will bring long-term benefits to the area. They have urged relevant authorities to balance infrastructure development with measures that support businesses and local residents during the construction period.
