The qualifiers, scheduled for July 2 to July 5, will mark the competitive debut of new Head Coach David Fizdale. The former NBA coach will lead a mix of experienced internationals and emerging talents as Nigeria begins its quest for a place at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The squad includes Caleb Agada, Chimezie Metu, Stanley Okoye, Wesley Iwundu, Daniel Utomi, Christian Mekowulu, Michael Eric and other key players. D’Tigers will compete in Group C alongside Guinea, Rwanda and Tunisia in a crucial stage of the qualification campaign.
NBBF President Ahmadu Musa Kida expressed confidence in the team and urged Nigerians at home and abroad to support the national side. Nigeria will face Guinea on July 3 before taking on Rwanda on July 5 as D’Tigers seek a strong start on the road to the 2027 World Cup.
