The Kaduna State Police Command has detained a couple following the death of a teenage boy identified as Sadiq in the Kurmin-Mashi area of Kaduna metropolis.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Sunday night along Dahiru Road. Preliminary reports indicate that the teenager was allegedly punished by his mother and stepfather over a dispute involving missing money after he was reportedly sent to carry out a Point-of-Sale (PoS) transaction.
Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said the suspects are currently in custody while investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. He added that the outcome of the investigation will determine the next legal steps.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with community members calling for a thorough and transparent investigation.
