Nigeria and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation through enhanced training, intelligence sharing and coordinated emergency response strategies.
The commitment was highlighted at the opening of specialised Incident Commanders’ and Advanced Intelligence Analysis courses at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Abuja. According to the National Coordinator of NCTC, Maj.-Gen. Adamu Laka, the training is designed to improve crisis management, emergency preparedness and collaboration among security agencies in responding to evolving security threats.
The 10-day programme will equip participants with strategic leadership and intelligence analysis skills needed to tackle terrorism, organised crime and other complex security challenges. Laka said the initiative would strengthen Nigeria’s national incident management framework and enhance the country’s overall security resilience.
Representatives of the British High Commission described the partnership as a vital step in addressing growing security challenges across Nigeria and the Sahel region. Both countries expressed confidence that stronger coordination, intelligence-led operations and continuous capacity building will improve emergency response and help save lives.
