Young Nigerian entrepreneurs have been encouraged to take advantage of opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to expand their businesses and compete in international markets.
Speaking at the Trade Commissioners Summit 2.0 in Abuja, Colombian Honorary Consul to Nigeria, Mrs. Maricel Romero, urged entrepreneurs involved in foreign trade to identify products unique to their communities, add digital value to them, and embrace cross-border trade opportunities. She stressed the importance of digitalisation and seamless payment systems in reaching new customers across Africa and beyond.
Romero described the summit as a timely platform for connecting Nigeria’s trade potential with global markets. The event also featured the launch of “The Goal for Trade,” an initiative designed to strengthen cross-border commerce and investment across the continent.
Industry leaders, policymakers, and foreign diplomats at the summit explored opportunities in key sectors including agriculture, power, mining, and logistics. The discussions highlighted the growing role of innovation, partnerships, and regional integration in driving economic growth and creating new opportunities for African businesses.
