Nigeria’s aviation industry needs urgent regulatory reforms, tax relief and stronger gender inclusion policies to achieve sustainable growth, according to Women in Aviation International (WAI), Nigeria Chapter.
Speaking in Lagos, WAI President, Dr. Rejoice Ndudinachi, said multiple charges imposed by aviation agencies continue to increase operational costs for airlines. She called for a harmonised single-charge system, improved access to foreign exchange, tax incentives, and investment in airport infrastructure to boost efficiency and reduce costs across the sector.
Ndudinachi also highlighted the need for greater support for women in aviation. While acknowledging progress in female participation, she said challenges such as workplace culture, high training costs, limited scholarships, and a shortage of female role models still hinder many women from entering and advancing in the industry.
She noted that WAI Nigeria is working to inspire the next generation of female aviators through mentorship, scholarships, and its Girls in Aviation programme. The call underscores the importance of policy reforms and inclusive opportunities in shaping the future of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
